Eliane Raheb

Born in Beirut, Eliane Raheb‘s compelling cinematographic work has made her one of the most distinguished young Lebanese filmmakers.

She obtained her degree from the Saint Joseph University IESAV department, and started teaching courses there in 2003.

Raheb began her career with two short movies, “Al-3ard Al-Akhir” and “Liqa2.” She went on to direct successful documentaries such as “So Near Yet So Far”, “Intihar” and “Hayda Lebnan,” which won the Excellence Award at the Yamagata Festival and was screened on many Arabic and International TV channels.

She is best known for her controversial movie “Layali Bila Nawm,” which won five awards, including the Best Documentary Award at the Bird’s Eye View Film Festival in London.

Besides her creative filmmaking work, she established the cultural association Beirut DC in 1999. In 2001, she was assigned as the artistic manager of the Beirut Cinema Days Film Festival for six consecutive editions.
