Fouad Oleiwan is a Lebanese filmmaker born in 1964. He earned a degree in film directing at the University of Montana. Since then, he has directed several documentaries, short films and TV commercials. In 1991, he began his career with the film “Shawq Marid Li Watan Marid,” and then continued directing other films about social and political problems in Lebanon, such as “The Blue Night” in 1999 and “Ya Hawa Beirut” in 2002.Oleiwan has also worked as a TV director at the Future TV and Al Jazeera TV.Oleiwan is best known for his latest movie, “Asfouri,” which earned great popular and critical acclaim in Lebanon and abroad. “Asfouri” was Oleiwan’s first feature film, about the reconstruction plan in Beirut that followed the Lebanese civil war.
