A renowned Lebanese filmmaker and founder of ZAC Films, Hady Zaccak was born in Beirut in 1974, one year before the eruption of the civil war, which strongly influenced and inspired his work.

Zaccak studied cinema and audiovisual studies at the IESAV film school affiliated with Saint Joseph University. He also participated in workshops for filmmaking at the French institute FEMIS, at INSAS in Brussels, and at the Konrad Wolf Institute in Potsdam, Germany.

Since 1997 he has written and directed more than 20 documentaries, which have received great acclaim and won international and local awards.

The civil war has distinctly influenced Zaccak’s work, which show a keenness to keep track of Lebanese history and document the country’s present.

Besides being a very active director, Zaccak also wrote a book in French — Le Cinéma Libanais: itinéraire d’un cinema vers l’inconnu — chronicling the history of Lebanese cinema. He followed this with two complementary documentaries: “Lebanon thMore
