Joseph Sakr’s (1942-1997) acting and musical talent quickly attracted the public’s attention and made a mark on Lebanon’s theater scene, mainly through his growing participation in plays from the Rahbani Brothers and Fairuz, and later on Ziad Rahbani separately.

Sakr’s career took off when he became a member of the choir in Fairuz’s musicals on stage, before taking a leap forward as a supporting actor in “Loulou” (1974) and “Mais el Reem” (1975) among others.

But it wasn’t until his contribution with Ziad Rahbani in the seventies that he truly became renown across the nation. Sakr took part in all of Rahbani’s plays as both a character and the main singer, all the way from Sahriyye (1973) to Lawla Fous-hatoul Amali (1994), including Nazl Al-Sourour (1974), Bennesbeh Labokra, Chou?
